I received my MA in Viking and Medieval Norse Studies from the University of Iceland in 2018, after writing my thesis on ‘Óðinn: A Queer týr? A Study of Óðinn’s Function as a Queer Deity in Iron Age Scandinavia.’ I decided to start the Norse Queer and Gender Studies Network, and by extension Kyngervi, as I felt there were so many students working in these areas, and only a limited amount of support and places to show off our work.
